Joint Technical event with Railway Technical Society
Date: Thursday
19th April – 6:15 PM
Venue: John
Connell Auditorium, Engineering House, 21 Bedford St, North
Melbourne
This session was the first joint event between YEA-V and a technical society. Rail industry representatives and young engineers gathered to see an overview of the rail industry in Australia, current problems, existing workforce shortage, changing technology across the globe and 50 years overview of the rail industry ahead. Martin Baggott from GHD had extensive experience in the industry and demonstrated how the rail technology is progressing overseas and how state governments, particularly Queensland government, are looking ahead to address future transport congestions with rail network improvements. The presentation was very informative for young engineers who didn’t know much about rail industry and chair of Railway Technical Society encouraged YEA-V to organise more joint events.
